The cards are constructed from two printed sheets of 160gr verger paper, glued together with handmade glue from a traditional recipe. The sheets are then pressed and dried before being stenciled and cut by hand.

Marie-Anne-Adélaïde Lenormand, known as Melle Lenormand, was a renowned fortune teller in the 19th century. While the Petit Lenormand oracle is associated with her name, it can be traced back to an oracle called Das Spiel der Hoffnung (the Game of Hope), published in Germany circa 1800. This suggests that publishers capitalized on Lenormand’s reputation, rebranding the Game of Hope as Le Petit Lenormand after her death in 1843.
